A new baby brings more than one occasion with it: the announcement, then the aqiqah, and in many homes a day when the mother receives visitors in the first weeks. Each one needs slightly different wording. Here is wording for all three, ready to copy with the name and the date changed.

The birth announcement

An announcement is news before it is an invitation, so it stays short and usually opens with thanks to God.

With thanks to God, we are happy to share the arrival of our son Hamad, born on Saturday, 3 October 2026.

Mohammed and Aisha

For a girl:

By the grace of God, our daughter Maitha has arrived. She was born on Saturday, 3 October 2026, and our home is brighter for her.

Some parents add the weight or the time of birth. That's fine, but keep it to one line, and keep the name the largest thing on the card.

The aqiqah invitation

The aqiqah is usually held on the seventh day, and its invitation comes from the father or from both parents:

In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful.

In gratitude for His blessing, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri invites you to the aqiqah of his son Hamad on Friday, 9 October 2026, after Asr prayer, at the family home in Al Ain.

If the men's meal and the women's gathering are in two places, give each time its own line. Put them in one sentence and guests will get lost in it.

Receiving visitors after the birth

In many homes the mother receives well-wishers on one set day, rather than visits arriving every afternoon. The invitation for that is simpler:

Umm Hamad would be glad to welcome you to celebrate the new baby on Tuesday, 13 October, from 4 to 8 pm.

Giving an end time isn't rude. The mother is in her first weeks, and most guests understand that and appreciate knowing.

What guests say back

If you are the guest and want the right words, the most common congratulation in Arabic asks God to bless the gift, says thanks to the Giver, and wishes that the child grows strong and is good to his parents. In everyday Gulf speech you'll also hear "Mabrook ma jakum", congratulations on what came to you.

A card or a site

A card suits an announcement, where the news is all you want to say. An aqiqah has a time, a place and sometimes two places, and an invitation site holds all of it with a map and a reply button, so you know how many people are coming before you order the food.

These are cards for a new baby and an aqiqah. Press play on any of them to see it arrive:

Every date on an invitation shows in both the Hijri and the Gregorian calendar on its own. That helps with an aqiqah in particular, since many families count it by the Hijri date.
